Just Show Up: A Reminder for Every Runner

There's a particular kind of anxiety that shows up right before a group run. You check the pace requirements. You wonder if your shoes are "serious" enough. You scroll the Instagram photos from last week's meetup and everyone looks fast, confident, like they belong. And you start to convince yourself that maybe this isn't for you.
We've all been there.
Running culture has a funny way of making people feel like they need permission to participate. Pace groups. Qualifying times. The unspoken dress code of compression gear and GPS watches. It's easy to look at all of that and think: I wasn't invited to this.

The best run you'll have this month might be a solo loop around your neighborhood at 6 AM, before the world wakes up. It might be a slow jog with a friend where you talk more than you run. It might be the first mile you've ever completed, walked more than ran, and finished with a pride that no pace chart could measure.
Movement doesn't require a membership card. It doesn't care if you've been running for ten years or ten minutes. The road, the trail, the sidewalk outside your apartment — they're all open to whoever shows up.
